THE BEST SOURCES FOR DISNEY SHIRTS & TEES

Half the battle for me getting ready for vacation is stressing over what to pack.  Today, I'm super excited to pass the reigns to my little sister who is quite the expert in Disney fashion, for the parks & at home.  Today she'll share about her favorite places to find unique shirts, local deals, & DIY options. Tomorrow she'll be back in charge to round out your outfits with all the accessories you'll ever need.  Stick around to the end of the post to learn a bit more about Jessica!

Your resort is booked.  Tickets are ready.  You secured your must-have ADRs 180+ days in advance.  You know your fastpass picks and have your alarm set so you can grab them as soon as your window opens.  What’s next?  For me, it’s definitely “What will I wear when I finally meet Baymax?”.  Whether this is a once-in-a-lifetime trip with your whole family, your honeymoon or anniversary trip with just your spouse, or your 99th visit, there is a section of Disney style for you!  There are so many ways you can go- you can plan to spend as much or as little as you’d like.  There truly is something for everyone! This is one of my favorite topics, so let’s dive right in.

T-Shirts & Clothing

ONLINE SHOPS:

Celebration Shirts, Happily Ever Tees, Walt's Wardrobe , Happiest Tees on Earth

Main Street Press, Café Forty Seven, cakeworthy, whosits and whatsits

I get it.  You don’t want a neon colored “Walt Disney World 2016” character T-shirt that is sold in every gift shop on property - I don’t either.  While I’ve definitely gotten those "classic" shirts over the years at the parks, it’s rare that I find something I like.   Enter the world of Disney-loving small businesses.  I definitely have my favorites & I’m finding more and more all the time.

Our now not-so-small family has done the matching shirts thing a few times over the years.  We’ve always opted to make them ourselves, but I recently found a company that makes matching family Disney vacation tees that are surprisingly not as cheesy looking as many on Etsy can be.  Celebrationshirts.com offers designs that are ready to ship and others that can be customized with your last name.   While I haven’t personally ordered from them, I’ve heard good reviews and have them in mind for our next big family trip.  Prices start at $16 for ready to ship and $22 for customized options.

I’ve personally bought multiple shirts for both my husband and I from Happily Ever Tees.  They hold up great and I think they’re pretty cute too.  Who says your “Best Day Ever” has to be just at Magic Kingdom?  I totally wear mine all the time.  I’ve got my eye on a “Wishes” tank, and if things go my way I’ll have snagged one before this post is live!

Sure enough, I got my Wishes shirt just in time for this post (2nd from the right).

While I haven’t ordered from the others listed (yet!), I’ve definitely got a wish list!  Here are some of my favorites from reputable shops.

*Side Note- many of these small businesses are run by individuals or familys, and thus can’t keep up with the demand or sell out extremely quickly when they restock.  I suggest signing up for mailing lists and following them on social media (Instagram in particular) so you know what they’ll be restocking their shop with and when!

HOMEMADE:

If you want to make your own shirts, you're just a Pinterest search away.  Iron-on transfers, freezer paper stencils, mickey tie-dye ..... the sky is the limit!

Shirt 1:Snow White shirt made from an Old Navy tank; Shirt 2: Iron On transfer; Shirt 3: Iron On Fabric using a Silhouette cutting machine.

Even if you can't sew or don't consider yourself crafty there's still a cheap way to make something original!

LOCAL STORES:

Basically anywhere you go, you can find Disney clothes.  You probably walk past them all the time without a second glance - that is until you have a trip planned   The men’s section at Walmart has had a classic mickey unisex tee for over a year now that looks just like what you can get at disneystore.com, except much cheaper.  My husband and I both have one - you never know when you'll need matching Mickey shirts!  Walmart, Target, JCPenney, and Kohl’s will typically always have some sort of Disney/Star Wars clothing for the whole family at any given time.  Be sure to check the clearance racks in the Juniors section at JCP if you get $10 off coupons in the mail - this can make for a steal!

One place I would have never though to go to for clothes for a Disney trip is HOT TOPIC.  I am not their typical shopper, but they have some seriously cute Disney clothes.  They have both men’s and women’s (and plus size!) and carry a large selection online as well.  They sell lots of merchandise and clothing in coordination with new Disney movie releases, but also have items from nearly forgotten ones like "The Fox and the Hound" or "Oliver and Company".

They are constantly adding new items, from tee shirts and dresses, to earrings and even cute sweaters like this one:

I've been saving the best for last....the LC Lauren Conrad for Kohl’s collections.  For the last year or so, LC has been providing us with cute Disney clothes that are a little less “theme park-y” than the rest of what you’ll see in this post.  I have worn these shirts to work and no one even knew that they were Disney because they are so beautifully subtle.  Perfect for a date night at Disney Springs or a Dapper Day outfit.  Currently, there is an Alice in Wonderland collection available both in stores and online, but we’ve seen Cinderella, Minnie Mouse (twice!), and Bambi in the past.  I don’t think this is the last collaboration we’ll see - so keep your eyes peeled when you’re shopping at Kohl’s!

Always be on the lookout wherever you are - I've even found a fun Star Wars shirt on a clearance shelf at Kroger right before our Star Wars themed Disney cruise this past spring.  Even I wouldn’t have thought to look there!  Stay tuned tomorrow for more about Mickey Ears, shoes, bows, & more!
