The last few days have seemed so surreal in some ways. To live in a community that shows up all over the national news for such crazy and heartbreaking reasons isn't a normal occurrence by any means. And in the wake of the on-air shootings of our local news people, I can't help but be reminded of what a broken world we live in.
"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." Romans 8:28
Though in my earthly mind I can't make sense of why this thing had to happen, I am choosing to rest in the fact that God knew exactly what was going to happen and He will use this tragedy to draw others to him. Watching memorials and vigils taking place around us reminds me that a sense of healing can come with community. I don't think the timing of the second City Sing in Lynchburg is a coincidence in the slightest - and I can't wait to see hundreds of women from our community come together again to worship, praise, celebrate, and maybe even begin to heal from a variety of different hurts.
To me, it was the most beautiful picture of heaven here on Earth - multiple generations, races, denominations all joining together to praise our Savior. Maybe events like this happen in big cities, but this was a new thing in our mid-size non-metropolis. But it was so beautiful. God was welcomed and His presence was there.
And you should come too. It's a free event taking place September 14th at 7pm at Phase 2- but you have to sign up because space is limited. SIGN UP HERE - registration is close to full so do it now! At the last event the line literally wrapped around the building with ladies who hadn't signed up and we're just hoping to get a seat. Hundreds of women. I can't put into words how encouraging that sight alone was and how great an example it was of how God is moving & preparing hearts to change our community.
So will you join me? Find a sitter or enlist the hubby to do homework/bedtime duty, grab a girlfriend, and carpool. And be sure to tell a friend about the event too! Seriously, you don't want to miss the chance to share such a precious time with other sisters in our community.
For my faithful readers outside of Lynchburg, will you pray for this event? Maybe the Lord will just lead your heart to do something similar in your community.
Now the fun part - GIVEAWAY time! I've got a super awesome City Sing journal up for grabs to the lucky winner! There's two ways to earn entries - visit the City Sing Facebook page & comment on the blog if you are coming or share your favorite worship song (at the moment mine is 'Holy Spirit' by Francesca Battistelli). Then be sure to go register for the event and join me in just over 2 weeks! I'd love to know if you are coming - I want to look for your beautiful faces in the crowd!
The giveaway will be open until 12:00AM Friday September 4th. ***GIVEAWAY IS NOW OVER***
