It's Ok Not To Theme Your Nursery

I'm sitting here waiting like I never have before.  Tomorrow is our due date and I am sitting here trying to be thankful for these quiet moments, all the while getting more and more anxious to have her in my arms.  I had hoped to share my up's and down's with preparing the nursery long before now.  But why not start today as a way to hold me over until I'm drinking in the smell of my lil me.

Early on, the most common question I got once it was obvious I was pregnant was 'what theme are you decorating the nursery'?  And to be honest, when I responded that I was just working from a color scheme, it was 50/50 weird looks.  There's certainly nothing wrong with a theme, but I hate pink.  And purple.  And didn't want a gender neutral nursery (though there's obviously perks with going that route).  But I did have a favorite outfit.  Mint green JCrew sweater.  Coral, white, & gold fall scarf from Target.  Enter my inspiration.  It was a girly combo, but not too much, as long as I worked to keep it from becoming too South Beach or Lily Pulitzer.

I figure go with your gut.  You never know where you might find your inspiration.

It really was a challenge to create a coordinating nursery from scratch.  And investing the time in that isn't everyone's cup of tea.  But if you are up for the adventure - here's some inspiration!

I can't wait to share some of my DIYs from the room and details on products, sources, & paint colors in the next few posts.

What sparks your interest?  I want to share about it!  This has been such a passion project for me while I've waited for baby girls' arrival.  Maybe it's not your favorite color combo, but if nothing else I hope I can inspire you that it's ok (and fun) to create your own nursery decorating adventure!  Since we are *hopefully* moments from starting our labor & delivery adventure, I'd appreciate your prayers over the next few days.  Every mom has first time jitters right?  I can't wait to be home and start this new phase of my life.....and to get back to blogging!
