Today I'm highlighting the custom house portraits from My Sweet Rose on day 4 of our 31 days of Etsy shops series.
A few years ago I ran across what I think is one of the most fabulous gift ideas ever. The YoungHouseLove couple had a custom painting made of their parents house as a gift before they moved.
One - it's thoughtful. Two- it's such an original gift. And three - it's meaningful! I've always been emotional when it comes to change...so maybe that's why the idea has stuck with me. I still can remember crying over my dad selling his "fast car" when I might as well still have been an infant. "Nooooo daddy... You can't sell it! It's my favorite car ever!" It's just something about the need to immortalize for forever all those "first" and "last" memories. Like baby's first smiles and the last spin you take in the car that was your getaway on your wedding day. Or maybe it's just me.
Back to the point - house portraits. Don't you love the idea of collecting pictures of the homes you've lived in as a family? Or maybe it's a perfect anniversary gift for parents or good friends. What an awesome way to take a little piece of home with you when you move.
Check out a few of the watercolors she has done....aren't they wonderful?
What house would you choose for a custom portrait? I'd love one of each our homes, but especially one of my grandparents home. That's a picture that would get a place of honor in my home. Without a doubt.
